A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Herbert Gaffney Blalock, 82, of Camden, SC, at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Father John Zimmerman will officiate. Burial will follow at Highview Cemetery in Gray, GA. Memorials may be made c/o of the church at 1709 Lyttleton Street, Camden, SC 29020.

Born September 14, 1936 in Atlanta, Georgia. Parents, Edgar Blalock and Blanche Gaffney. Graduated Jonesboro, Georgia Highs School-1954. Four Degrees from University of Georgia

B.S. - 1958 – Zoology

D.V.M – 1962

M.S. – 1965 – Medical Microbiology

P.H.D. – 1968

Employed-Clemson University – 1968-1989 – Microbiologist and Laboratory Director (Clemson Livestock Lab in Columbia, SC), Raised and raced thoroughbred horses while living at Cool Springs Plantation – 1974-2018, Camden, SC.

Herbert was predeceased by his brother, Ed Blalock, Jr.
