Alfred Bonner Roberson, 92, of Lugoff, SC passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 2, 2025 at his home residence. Born on September 6, 1933 in New Bern, North Carolina, he was the son of Chester Worth Roberson and Kathryn Smith Roberson.
Al graduated from Campbell University with a Bachelor of Science and Natural History, A Master of Science in Biology and Chemistry from the University of Mississippi, and was a Ph.D. Candidate of UNC at Chapel Hill (A.B.D). Alfred also served as a Navy Hospital Corpsmen in the United States Navy during the Korean War and in the National Guard and the Air Force Reserves.
He was a passionate science teacher in South Carolina and North Carolina High Schools and also taught at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC. Alfred retired from the South Carolina Department of Alcohol and Drug Abuse after serving for over 20 years to educate people across South Carolina for Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention.
He was an active member of our community and played multiple musical instruments in local musical groups and Big Band orchestras. He loved wind surfing, sailing and working on sail boats, playing tennis & pickle ball, Ballroom Dancing, and a sports car enthusiast.
Alfred is survived by his spouse, Margaret Kay Kerley Roberson, his brother Larry Ray Roberson, his children Sera Leigh Roberson Jacob (Phil), Leslie Carol Roberson Watson (Jack), and Andrew Bonner Roberson (Pam). He was also blessed with nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, November 6 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Kornegay Funeral Home of Camden, SC with visitation before the Funeral Service from 1:00 PM-2:00 PM. A private family graveside interment service will follow at Quaker Burying Ground of Camden, South Carolina.
