Bernerd Edward Rice, Jr. went on to his eternal home on September 30, 2023.  He was at home on the lake in the home that he loved with his wife at his side.  Ed was very specific in how he wanted to be remembered.  According to Ed, he was “an average man saved by grace”.  He was a loving husband to his wife Bambi for 20 years, a devoted father and “pop pop” to his daughters, stepson, and grandchildren, and a sweet, sentimental brother to his Rock Hill sisters.

Ed loved and supported his family and friends, not just in words but in deeds as well.  He was a firm believer in the power of God; he was also a fun-loving “regular guy”, always in search of the best BBQ ribs (Van), the perfect day on the lake on his jet ski, the liveliest music concert, and the most laid back, casual day at his cabin on Roan Mountain.

Ed was an Eagle Scout who attended the Citadel for a year then graduated from Columbia Bible College (now Columbia International University).  He earned a Masters of Divinity from Denver Seminary and after working in several churches finally settled down to a career in real estate.

Ed was predeceased by his parents Bernerd E. Rice, Sr. and Mary Adams Rice and by his sister Lorrie Lawrence (Judson).  He is survived by his wife Bambi , his daughter Corrie Rice-Londono (Rodrigo), of Miami Shores, FL,  Ashley Berzon (Chris), of Benbrook, TX, his stepson Clayton Campbell (Prague, Czech Republic), his grandchildren, Harper, Hallie, Emilio, and Tulio, his sisters, Jane Bailey (Mike) and Karen McDaniel (Darrell) of Rock Hill, SC and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ed wished to thank, from the bottom of his heart, his “buddy” Dr. James Phillips, and Jim’s “angel of a wife” Pam, who made it possible for Ed’s wife Bambi to keep him at home until his passing.  Special thanks to MSA Health and Hospice for their expertise and genuine loving care (especially to nurse Dee Davenport). And thank you nurses Brandi, Tamara and Tamika.
