Deaconess Betty Geiger Martin
Daughter of the Late John Geiger and Dessie Miles Geiger.
Deaconess Betty was educated in the Richland County School District. Her early religious training was in Roundtop Baptist Church. After marriage she joined Rehobeth Baptist Church.
Deaconess Betty served on the Deaconess Board, a member of the Jubilee Choir and in other capacities in the church until her health failed.
Betty was preceded in death; her father and mother, John and Dessie Geiger; her devoted husband Deacon Clarence Martin and her daughter, Janice Martin-Torres, seven (7) sisters: Mmes. Carrie Cooke, Annie Robinson, Izena Jones, Clara Geiger-Townsend, Lillie Mae Stuckey, Frances Robinson and Francina Townsend. Three (3) brothers; Messrs. Johnny, Eugene and David JC Geiger.
She leaves to cherish her memory two loving sons, Michael Sr. and Clarence Jr.; one devoted sister, Mrs. Dorothy Geiger Townsend of New York; eight cherished grandchildren; several great‑grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, church family, and friends who were blessed by her kindness, wisdom, and gentle spirit.
Her life was a testament to faith, family, and service — and her legacy will continue to shine through all who loved her.
