Pleasant and formerly of Camden, SC, died suddenly on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, surrounded by family and friends. Memorials may be made to Camp Rise Above at campriseabove.org or PO Box 31295, Charleston, SC 29417.
Brad grew up in Camden where he was active in Boy Scouts and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Following his graduation from Camden High School, he graduated from The Citadel as a member of Echo Company in 1989. He developed many life-long friendships while at The Citadel and later became a brother in Kappa Alpha Order.
Even as a young boy, Brad always worked and looked for opportunities to make his way in the world. With his entrepreneurial spirit, he was a risk-taker and not afraid to try new business adventures. He had a strong work ethic, and regardless of the job, he gave each his all. He was successful at many different jobs, but the one of which he was most proud was starting his own accounting firm in Mt. Pleasant. As a one-man-show for most of his career, Brad not only served his clients with accounting tasks, but he developed meaningful relationships with them. They knew that he cared about them as people, and not just someone who was paying him for his accounting expertise. While making a living was important, it was more important to him that he followed his servant’s heart in his accounting office.
Brad loved being outdoors as much as possible. He loved to hunt in Camden with his childhood friends and his nephew, Sam. He enjoyed fishing, riding in the boat through the saltwater, and hiking trails in the woods. He could sit for hours in the woods, just soaking in the peace and beauty of it all. He understood and appreciated the wonderful gifts of nature and especially enjoyed the NC mountains. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife and friends from Folly Beach, exploring new places, and attending concerts and Broadway musicals. He was drawn to the magic of New York City during the holidays.
While proud of his own professional accomplishments, it was most important to Brad to be a person of integrity, compassion, and loyalty. If he shook your hand, looked you in the eye and gave you his word, it meant everything. Like an Eagle Scout, he was always prepared. He was a giver, even as a child, and never expected anything in return – his giving all came from his huge heart. He would always stand up for the underdog. Even with his passing, he selflessly gave through organ and tissue donations so that others might have hope in living full and healthy lives.
While living in Camden, Brad was a member of Bethesda Presbyterian Church. Brad’s faith in God was strong, and he relied on that throughout his life, certainly in times of struggles, but also in moments of praise and thanks for all that he had been given. Without a doubt, he knew that he was a child of God above anything else.
One of Brad’s biggest passions was serving on the board for Camp Rise Above for seven years, and as Board Chair for three of those years. Providing overnight and day camp experiences for children and young adults with serious illnesses and disabilities brought great joy to Brad. He loved volunteering in any capacity for CRA, and if you ever had the privilege of talking with him about the camps, you would see the sparkle in his eyes and hear the happiness in his voice.
