Cynthia Foshee Obituary

Cynthia (Cindy) Gunnells Foshee of Columbia, SC, 63, passed away on July 24, 2025.

Born to Robert E. Gunnells, Sr. and Martha R. Gunnells, she is survived by her husband of 43 years, David Foshee of Columbia, SC; father, Robert E. Gunnells Sr. of Greenwood, SC; and daughter Kadie Austen (Brien Hollingsworth) of Greenville, SC.

She was predeceased by her mother, Martha, stepmother, Joyce Scott Gunnells, and brother, Robert “Bob” E. Gunnells Jr.

Cindy was a loving mother and wife. Cindy loved floating in her pool in the summer, catching up with long-time friends every Friday night over dinner, and taking care of her family and friends. Most of all, she loved her little pup, Maddie.

We owe a special thanks to Cathy Lipscomb of Greenville, SC, for the selfless gift of life. In 2005, Cathy donated her kidney to Cindy, allowing Cindy to continue being an amazing wife and mother for 20 additional years. Cathy was only a professional acquaintance when she heard Cindy’s Story about her lifelong struggle with kidney disease. Without hesitation, she wanted to give Cindy the gift of life. At that moment, she became part of our family.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Ninety Six Pentecostal Holiness Church, 206 State Street, Ninety Six, SC 29666.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to PETSinc, 300 Orchard Drive, West Columbia, SC 29170, or the National Kidney Foundation at kidney.org.
