David Allen Bottorff, age 77, passed away at his home in College Grove, Tennessee on May 29, 2024. David was born December 13, 1946 to Walter and Marion Davenport Bottorff of Jeffersonville, Indiana.
Dave grew up in Indiana and graduated from Jeffersonville High School. After graduation he joined the U.S. Army where he served for 3 years with distinction for 1 tour in Vietnam. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, sharpshooter, and numerous other medals. He was honorably discharged in 1969 and began his professional career with two companies; he was employed by the L&N/ CSX railway for 25 years as a loss and damage prevention agent and after retiring from the railroad he worked as a department manager at Home Depot in Murfreesboro for another 25 years.
David is survived by his wife of 34 years, Darlene Dixon Bottorff, two daughters, Gretchen Bradbury and Tiffany Rowland, 4 grandchildren; Brandi Rowland Null, John Rowland, Dusty
Rowland and Christina Hardman; three great-grandchildren, Bobbi Jo West, Christian Shidler and Lylah Moss; along with several nieces and nephews, his brothers Gene Bottorff (Gaynell) of Gainesville, Georgia and John (Dotty) Grimm of Indiana.
David was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Jimmy Bottorff and sister, JoAnn Ehalt.
David and Darlene, known in the College Grove Tennessee community as owners of Genesis Equestrian Center, have raised Arabian horses and competed successfully internationally.
Graveside funeral services with military honors will be held at Quaker Cemetery in Camden South Carolina on Friday, June 7, 2024, at 1:00 PM. Deborah Thomas will officiate.
