Frances Butler, wife of Floyd Leon Butler, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Wednesday, July 29, 2026. A visitation with her family will be held on Sunday, August 2, 2026 from 2:00-3:30 PM at Kornegay Funeral Home, Lugoff-Elgin Chapel, 1139 Highway 1 South, Lugoff. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to MUSC Hospice
Born in Fort Mill, SC, Frances was the daughter of the late Raymond St. Clair and Ernestine Culbertson.
In addition to her husband of 72 years, Frances is survived by her daughter, Debra Medlock of Lugoff; son, David Butler of Matthews, NC; grandchildren, Chris Butler (Laura) of Monroe, NC, Megan Boone (Travis) of Weddington, NC, Hope Butler of Lugoff; great-grandchildren, Hailey Settle, Blaze Medlock, Riker Butler, Rylee Butler, Kinsley Butler, Peyton Boone, Taylor Boone, Laynie Boone, Kelsey Croft and Skyler Croft; and great-great-grandchildren, Banks Settle and Fisher Settle.
Frances was predeceased by her son, Wilson Butler; grandson, Cal Medlock; and daughter-in-laws, Diane Butler and Melody Butler.
Frances was a housewife and mother until 1971 when she started working in the family businesses until she retired in 1998. After retiring, she and Leon purchased a motor home. They enjoyed traveling and camping with family and the many friends they made along the way until her health no longer allowed her to travel.
