George Robert "Bob" Suttles

On September 11, 2020, George “Bob” Suttles, age 74, passed away at his home surrounded by his family after a long, hard fought battle with cancer. Born in Kalamazoo, MI, he was the son of the late Arlette and Coleman Suttles.

Bob, the man, the myth, the legend to all who knew him, was a salesman for most of his adult life and never met a stranger. Bob was renowned for his sense of humor and ability to make people laugh, for always taking care of those around him, but also for his stubbornness, not holding back his opinion and, for having a knack for “telling it like it is”. He believed in working hard, “no excuses”, and taking care of business. He lived by the rule of helping others and was known to give someone in need the last dollar in his pocket. Some knew him as Bob, others as Uncle Bob but to his girls, it was Dad! Above all, Bob was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. Bob taught his daughters how to be independent and taught them, and his grandchildren, the importance of first impressions, the proper handshake and looking someone in the eye when talking to them. Bob loved to play guitars and sing with his family. He also loved fishing, golfing, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Brenda Suttles of Cassatt, SC; daughters Christina (Samuel) Crenshaw of Lancaster, SC; Amy (Tom) Bade of Waxhaw, NC; Jessica (Lou) Velez of Mineral Springs, NC; Shannon (Kevin) Nance of Polkton, NC; adopted son Michael Grundner of Cassatt, SC; 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that any donations be made directly to Brenda Suttles c/o Chris Crenshaw, and mailed to 1006 Laurel Avenue, Lancaster, SC 29720 to help with the funeral and hospital expenses.
