Funeral services for Jack Roy Stein, 81, of Camden will be held Wednesday, July 14, 2004 at 11:00 AM in Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Revs. Lee Bryant, David Weaver, and Thomas Smith will officiate. The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 13, 2004 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Kershaw County, 2001 W. DeKalb Street, Camden, SC 29020, or Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church, 1206 Lyttleton Street, Camden, SC 29020.
Mr. Stein died Monday, July 12, 2004. Born in Kershaw County, he was the son of the late Claude and Kate Sinclair Stein Grassmyer. He was a retired supervisor with DuPont, a US Army Air Corp WWII veteran having served in India and Tenian Island. He was a member of Golden K, American Legion Post 17, Mid-Carolina Camellia Society and donated camellias to several local parks, churches and friends and family. He was a member of Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church and a member of the Wimberly Sunday School Class. Mr. Stein was an avid fisherman.
Surviving are his wife, Nelle Hammond Stein, 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Judy Stein and Patrick R. Watts of Summerville, Jeannie Stein and John Michael Hill of Rock Hill, Janice Stein and James E. Hayes of Camden; 4 grandchildren, Sean P. and Paul R. Watts, Kathryn Lee and John Alexander Hill; a nephew, Johnny Stein of Jefferson. He was predeceased by a brother, Archie J. Stein and a nephew, Archie J. Stein, Jr., and his step-father, Henry Grassmyer.
Active pallbearers are Sean P. Watts, Paul R. Watts, Michael W. Hance, Stanley Childers, Vernon Hammond, and Phillip Wade.
