James Melton

A funeral service to celebrate the life of James E. “Jabbo” Melton will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel, 1112 Fair Street, Camden.    Pastor Marvin Jones will officiate. Visitation with family and friends will be one hour prior to the service, from 12:00 -1:00 PM.  Burial will follow the service in Quaker Cemetery. 

James, husband of Glenda Flowers Melton, died on Tuesday, November 19, 2024.  Born in Camden, SC, he was the son of the late James Rudolf Melton and Mary Frances Cureton Melton.  He was a Heating and Air Instructor at Centura College.

James is survived by his wife; sons, Jim Melton (Sophia) of Maggie Valley, NC, Jeff Melton (Brittian) of Camden, and Clay Dennis of Fort Lawn, SC; step-son, Daniel Ruple of Camden; brother, Frankie Melton of Cassatt; sisters, Caroline Melton of Hollywood, FL and Elizabeth Ballard of Cassatt; eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, James was predeceased by his brother, Johnny Felder Melton.

Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
