Sarah Jeanette Pleasants Casuccio, age 87, died on Monday, July 13, 2026. She was born in Lumberton, NC, the daughter of the late Daniel John Pleasants and the late Grace Evelyn Reed Pleasants, and was a native of Rowland, NC.
She graduated from the Charlotte Memorial School of Nursing, earning her diploma as a Registered Nurse, and would further her education by receiving a Master of Science in Health Care Administration. During a distinguished nursing career spanning more than 40 years, she served as Director of Nursing at various hospitals across the country. Her career began in Charlotte, North Carolina, later becoming the first lay Director of Nursing at St. Eugene Community Hospital in Dillon, South Carolina, and concluding her career at Brownwood Regional Medical Center in Brownwood, Texas. After retiring, she and Al enjoyed traveling together and creating cherished memories as they explored many destinations.
Jeanette is survived by her husband, Alexander “Al” Casuccio, of Camden; children, John “Jack” Ashton, Jr. (Kirsten), of Sugarland, TX, Jodie Belvin (Michael), of Camden, Sherry Casuccio, (Ed), of Charlotte, NC, Michael Casuccio (Teresa), of Bluffton, and Joe Casuccio, of Lumberton, NC; grandchildren, Sarah Conway (Michael), Daniel Ashton (Jessica), Meridan Ashton; great-grandchildren, Owen Conway, Peyton Ashton, Knox Ashton; brother,
Dr. John Pleasants (Cornie), and sister, Ruth Pleasants.
The family will hold a private service at a later date. Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
