Jesse Lloyd, Jr. was born in New York, New York’s Harlem Hospital on June 30, 1948. He was the oldest of three children born to the late Jesse and Catherine Williams Lloyd.
Jesse enjoyed working with horses and was a hot walker for Aqueduct Racetrack while at Westinghouse House High School. He attended New York Community College and from there entered the Airforce where he served in the Vietnam war. Some of Jesse’s achievements while in the military include: a National Defense Service Medal with a Bronze Star, a Southwest Asia Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars and an Air Force Suggestion Medal wherein he saved the Air Force $350,000 annually, on properly securing aircraft parts in transit. Jesse’s last active duty was Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm. He retired from the Airforce in 1991.
Following the military, Jesse had taken on other jobs, the United Parcel Service (UPS) and Eagle Aviation being among his favorites.
Jesse enjoyed listening to music, especially Smooth Jazz. He also enjoyed talking, making jokes and entertaining others. He played the bass guitar and enjoyed clothing shopping.
Jesse is survived by his son Asim Lloyd, granddaughter Unity Lloyd, sister Sandra Lloyd, niece Monique (Colin) Cunningham, nephew Shaun Hemphill (Everett Scisney) a host of cousins and friends.
Jesse was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Sharyn Hemphill.
