Jewell W. Smith

A memorial service with military honors for Jewell Wayne ‘Rick” Smith, US Army (Ret.), will be held at 3:00 PM on  Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel, 1112 Fair Street, Camden.  Rev. Steven Lee will officiate. Visitation with family will follow the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at stjude.org.

Rick died on Thursday, February 8, 2024.  Born in Auburn, KY, he was the son of the late John Henry Smith and Daisy Smith Davenport.

Rick is survived by his wife of 59 years, Priscilla Smith; daughter, Pamela Smith Galloway (Richard, Jr. “Chip”) of Camden; sons, Richard W. Smith (Kimberly) of Columbia and Ronnie Leon Hocutt (Alicia) of Fayetteville, NC;  7 grandchildren, Jonathan, Brandon, Dalton, Chris, Ben, Stephanie, and Conner; great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Wesley, Aiden, and Annabelle; and sisters, Georgianna Smith of Fort Myers, FL, Mary Katherine Conder (Gary) of Litchfield, KY, and Patricia Smith-Anderson (Chris) of Coral Springs, FL.

In addition to his parents, Rick was predeceased by his sisters, Dorothy Rollins and Eula Mae Resnick; and brother, James Earl Smith.

Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
