John Leroy Hough, Jr.

John Leroy Hough, Jr., of Camden, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2025, at the age of 62 due to heart complications.

Born on June 14, 1962, in Camden, John lived a life defined by service, love, and faith. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and traveled the world embracing many different cultures. After his time in service, he served as a deputy and later as Chief of Police. He continued his dedication to his community and assistance with First Responders through various other careers which included pursuing training to become an EMT. John was also a devoted member of Bethel Worship Center, where his faith in God and his passion for helping others were always evident.

A man of many talents and boundless heart, John found joy in the simple things—cooking for those he loved, casting a fishing line, hunting, building with his hands, and, most of all, spending time with his grandchildren. He loved people unconditionally and lived his life with humility and generosity, always putting others before himself.

John is survived by his three beloved children: Chris Hough of South Carolina, Patrick Hough of South Carolina, and Khristina Lee (Patrick) of Georgia; 11 cherished grandchildren - Rashad, Kendrick, Kennedy, Zander, Kameron, Jasmyn, Jordyn, Jasper, Khloe, Khaleesia, and Lailah; four loving sisters: Charlotte Branham (Lawson) of South Carolina , Ann Parrish (Dave) of Arizona, Fran Hough of South Carolina, and Diann Hough of South Carolina; and a special niece Natalie Parrish of Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents and nephew Robert Mitchum.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at Bethel Worship Center, 814 Fair Street, Camden. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service, from 11:00 AM-12:00 PM. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 1659 Kershaw Highway, Camden.

John’s legacy of love, service, and deep faith lives on through his family and all who were fortunate enough to know him. He was a proud father, a deeply devoted grandfather, and a true friend to many.
