Joyce Crews Nash

Funeral services for Joyce Crews Nash, 88, will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, December 5, 2021 at Kornegay Funeral Home, Lugoff-Elgin Chapel. Visitation will begin on Sunday at 1:00 PM. The burial will follow at Quaker Cemetery. Rev. Angela Marshall of St. John’s United Methodist Church will officiate.

Joyce died Tuesday, November 23, 2021. She was the daughter of the late Oscar Robert and Pearlie Mae Gant Crews. Joyce is survived by her son, Robert Crews Nash, of Winston-Salem, NC and by her daughter-in-law, Stacy Lynn Rice. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Victoria Katelynn Nash and Anderson James Nash.

Joyce was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Anderson Nash, Jr. and by her son, Thomas Anderson Nash, III.

The first member of her family to attend college, Joyce graduated from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro in 1955. Thomas Nash and she were married on June 24, 1955 and enjoyed 65 years together. Although Thomas’ work took them to various locations throughout the South, they considered Lugoff to be their home. While in Lugoff, Joyce was an active member of St. John’s United Methodist Church and taught history and economics at Lugoff-Elgin High School.
