Judith Charles Obituary

A Mass of Christian Burial for Judith Jacobs "Judi" Charles, 82, will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, July 20, 2026, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 1709 Lyttleton Street, Camden, SC. Father Orlando Serrano will officiate.

Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Thiel-Meyer Animal Shelter, 128 Black River Road, Camden, SC, or the Alzheimer's Foundation.

Judi was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, the daughter of the late Robert Ivan "Bob" Jacobs and Eleanor Ann Donnelly Jacobs. A devoted member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Judi lived a life centered on faith, family, friendship, and service to others.

Throughout her career, Judi wore many hats. She taught Pre-K Kindergarten at Lyttleton Street Methodist Church, where she found great joy in helping young children learn and grow. She also shared her musical talents by playing the organ for her church. Over the years, she worked as a real estate agent and was employed by Midlands Printing and Aberdeen Catering, where she formed many lasting friendships and cherished memories.

Judi is survived by her beloved husband, John F. Charles; her sons, Kevin J. Charles (Beth) and Robert M. Charles; her grandchildren, Drew Charles (Mary Hay), Catie C. Taylor (Corey), Taylor C. Unangst (Morgan), and Stella Anne Charles; and her great-grandchildren, Grayson Taylor, Charlie Grace Taylor, Nell Charles, and Smythe Charles.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Donnelly Jacobs.

Judi was a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished Nana who generously gave her time, love, and care to every member of her family. Compassionate and selfless, she was always ready to lend a helping hand and provide encouragement and support whenever it was needed.

She found great happiness outdoors and took immense pride in her yard and gardens. The flowers she nurtured brought beauty and joy not only to her family but also to all who passed by.

Judi treasured her many dear friends, family members, and cousins. She loved gathering around the dinner table, where laughter, conversation, and fellowship were always abundant. She never met a stranger and maintained lifelong friendships dating back to her school and college years. She especially cherished her Aberdeen Catering family, where hard work was always accompanied by laughter, friendship, and love.

An avid traveler, Judi was always ready for the next adventure. Whether traveling across the country or overseas, her suitcase was never far from packed. One of her favorite destinations was the beach, where she enjoyed walking barefoot along the shore and hunting for shells with her grandchildren. The family's friendly competition to find the largest shell became a treasured tradition that continues today among her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Annual family beach trips created countless memories that will be cherished for generations.

Judi also had a special love for animals, especially her beloved dogs and grand-dogs. Every visit was sure to include a special treat and plenty of affection.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to MUSC Hospice and the caring staff of Karesh Long Term Care and Rehab for their compassion, support, and dedicated care.

Judi's life was marked by kindness, generosity, unwavering love, and joyful fellowship. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.
