A memorial service to celebrate the life of Leon Boyd, 71, of Lugoff, will be held at Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at 11:00 AM. Rev. Frank J. Griffith, Jr. will be conducting the service. The family will receive friends following the service in the Family Life Center. Memorials may be made to the Pastor’s Discretionary Fund, Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church, 1206 Lyttleton Street, Camden, SC 29020.
Leon died Thursday, June 3, 2021. Born in Blythewood, he was the son of the late Noland Boyd, Sr. and Maezola Miles Boyd. Leon was the sexton for Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church for 40 years and was the owner of Boyd Lawn Care. He was an avid runner.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Poole Boyd; daughters, Cherrie Boyd and Jacqueline Boyd Calhoun, both of Columbia; son, Anthony Leon Boyd of Lugoff; 4 grandchildren; sisters, Teresa Wilson, Ethel Kelly (Allen), Nora Green (Rick), Donna Wilson, Laverne Bracey (Nathaniel), and Cheryl Stuckey (Anthony); brothers, Noland Boyd, Jr., Ronald Boyd (Diane), Donald Boyd, Levi Boyd, and Herbert Boyd; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Leon was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Alzo Wilson, Jr.
