Margaret DeBruhl Elliott

Funeral services for Margaret DeBruhl Elliott, 100, will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at Hermitage Baptist Church, 814 Jefferson Davis Highway, Camden, SC.  A visitation will be held at 10:00 AM, one hour prior to the service.  Rev. Mark Hopkins will officiate.  Memorials may be made to Hermitage Baptist Church. 

Margaret passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2025.  She was the daughter of James Lonnie DeBruhl and Sarah Dority DeBruhl.

Margaret lived a full life of 100 years. She graduated from Camden High School and began her nursing career at the age of 16 at Camden School of Nursing. In 1944 she went to New Orleans as part of the Army Nurse Cadet Corps. She returned home to Camden and worked for Kershaw County Hospital and with multiple local physicians during her nursing career. She worked for many years with the Kershaw Council on Aging and was a lifelong member of Hermitage Baptist Church. 

Margaret is survived by her daughter Dale Elliott Beinor of Columbia; sons Joel A. Elliott, of Columbia, and John K. Elliott (Debbie) of Camden; grandchildren Erin Julian Hart (Aaron) and Marsh Julian (Carla) and six great-grandchildren. 

She was predeceased by her husband John Alexander Elliott, Jr.; daughter Debbra Elliott Julian and son Robert Laurens Elliott. She was also predeceased by siblings Minnie DeBruhl Eddings, John Henry DeBruhl, Hayward Colin DeBruhl, Willis Dalton DeBruhl, Lucille DeBruhl McMurray, Lillibelle DeBruhl Tuttle, Lonnie Curtis DeBruhl, James Wylie “Jack” DeBruhl, Arnold Ranz “Buck” DeBruhl, Lynwood Aaron “Pete” DeBruhl and Bobby Ted DeBruhl.
