Nancy passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, surrounded by love. She was the daughter of the late James A. Parry and Reva Wood Parry. Nancy Becknell had a strong faith in God and the Scriptures, and lived her life in accordance with Jesus' teachings. She believed in kindness and cleanliness.
Nancy was an artist of Life. She was a member of Wateree Baptist Church, a graduate of Camden High School, and participated in many organizations and guilds that followed her various interests. The Camden Art Association, Camden Needlepoint Guild, Quilters of Kershaw County (founding member), Swan Lake Quilt Guild, The Order of the Eastern Star, and the Airstream Club are just a few. She loved beauty, she created beauty, and her life was lived in beauty. She loved her family and her friends. She loved creating. She created a beautiful home filled with love. There weren't too many art forms she hadn't tried and mastered. She could sew and quilt, crochet and knit, create ceramics and astonishing beadwork, and paint with acrylics, oils, and watercolors.
She truly enjoyed life. She made life fun, and wherever she went you can bet people were having a great time. She loved traveling, to visit famous sites, to visit friends and family, or to take an art class. She enjoyed sports, Go Braves! played on the high school basketball team, loved to dance and swim, and when older, she was proud to be a senior Olympian representing South Carolina. Her family enjoyed games of all kinds including card games, board games, word games and many hours were often passed by laughing and talking while playing family favorites.
She will be long remembered and missed by all those whose lives she touched.
Nancy is survived by her daughters, Jayn L. Pratt (Robert), and Mary E. “Beth” Langley (Colin Brook); grandchildren, David DeBruhl (Carolyn), and Kathy K. Graham; great-grandchildren, John Thomas, Ellie, Adrian, Marcus, Rosie, and Vee; sister, Becky Robinson (Harold); brother, Jim Parry; sister-in-law, Joan Boan; and nieces and nephews, Tess, Reagan, DeAnn, Toni, Robin, Mike, Valerie, Kim and Don, and many other relations and friends.
In addition to her parents, Nancy was predeceased by her husband, Ralph Becknell; brother, Robert Parry (Sonny); sister-in-law, Lois Parry, and niece, Wanda Parry.
