Peter Osgood Briggs

Peter Osgood Briggs, age 86, died of lung cancer on Monday, May 27, 2024. Born in New York, NY, he was the son of the late Dr. Henry Briggs and Kathleen McCashin Briggs.

Peter graduated from Drew University in Madison, New Jersey.  He will be remembered for his warm personality, blue eyes, penchant for chocolate ice cream, encouragement of young people, and his love of the sandy, pine-filled hunt country of Camden.

A lifelong pursuit of competitive sports including a brief stint in his early 20’s as a steeplechase jockey, the participation in Show Jumping, Eventing, Fox Hunting, tennis, and the introduction of many in Camden to Pickleball in his 80’s.  Peter last played pickleball five weeks prior to his death.

Peter is survived by sisters, Sharon Briggs Forelli of Norwalk, CT and Priscilla Briggs of South Port, CT; cousin, Beth McCashin of Mocksville, NC; great-nephew, Sean McCashin (Michelle) of Mocksville, NC; and great-niece, Mary Elizabeth McCashin of Mocksville, NC.

In addition to his parents, Peter was predeceased by his brother, Charles Briggs and his cousin, John McCashin.
