Rosemary Anderson Johnson

Rosemary Anderson Johnson (Formerly McCarley), age 86, died Sunday, February 8, 2026, in Camden, SC.  

Rosemary was born and raised in Camden, SC, and graduated from Camden High School.  She attended Winthrop College and was the owner of Young Fashions Childrens’ Clothing Store in Camden. What she loved most were her three boys and Colonial Lake where she grew up and lived for many years.

She is survived by sons: Greg McCarley (Heather), of Aiken, Matthew McCarley (Terri), of Camden, and Lindsay McCarley (Allison), of Columbia; step-children Beth McKinnon (Matt), of Camden, and Bryan Johnson, of Columbia; her grandchildren: Cooper McCarley, Joseph McCarley, Eliza McCarley, Zachary McCarley, and Izzie McCarley; step-grandchildren Mallory and Celeste Johnson, Anna, Eli and Jonah McKinnon; and two great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Grover Cleveland Anderson and Dorothy McLeod Anderson. Her mother was the only member of her immediate family to survive the Cleveland School Fire and was raised by her grandmother. Rosemary was also preceded in death by her brother Grover Lindsay Anderson, and spouse Harry Lee “Pete” Johnson, Jr.  She was previously married to Joe Bruce McCarley who is also deceased.

The family would like to thank Pinedale Residential Center, McCoy Memorial Nursing Center and Karesh Long Term Care for their care over the years.

A service to celebrate Rosemary’s life will be held at 4:00 PM on Monday, February 16, 2026, at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service until 6:00 PM.
