Sarah Maddox Brasington went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 20, 2023, at the age of 91.
Sarah loved children! For many years, she taught children in the five-year-old Sunday School class at First Baptist Church, Camden. She and “Papa Ray” kept children for many years in their home at Brasington Day Care. These were all special times for her.
She was an excellent seamstress. She made clothes for her children, others, and herself. She made Kathy’s beautiful wedding dress. She made Barbie doll clothes for her girls’ dolls, including a different wedding dress for each girl’s Barbie. She was a beautiful example of a Proverbs 31 lady!
Sarah treasured her family! They were very close to her heart. What a great blessing she was to her family! She loved to cook and to help her family. She fixed the best macaroni, cornbread, pound cake, and much more. We greatly valued her prayers and Godly counsel. We were very proud and honored to know her as “my mother” and “my Grammie”. She will be greatly missed.
Sarah is survived by daughters, Kathy Frost (Donald) and Jill Brasington, and son, Allen Brasington, all of Camden. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Nicholas Frost (Michelle) and Jay Frost (Jena) of Camden; Crystal Pace and Alicia Armistead (Drew) of Birmingham, AL; Skye Vecchione (Nick) of Summerville, SC; and Cindy Brasington and Jennifer Brasington of Camden; 8 great-grandchildren, Colin Frost, Lilli Hardin, Bryson Hardin, Sara Frost, Dylan Frost, and Haley Frost, all of Camden; and Zachary Turner and Justus Armistead of Birmingham, AL; brother-in-law, Jim Price of Sumter, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Ray Brasington; her precious daughter, Suzanne Leland; her parents, B.I. and Ola Maddox; her brothers, William Maddox and Charles Maddox; and her sisters, Doris Maddox, June Ogburn, and Carolyn West.
The family would like to thank Karesh Long Term Care for their loving and compassionate care during the last years of our mother’s life.
A private family celebration is planned for a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Connie Maxwell Children’s Home, PO Box 1178, Greenwood, SC 29648.
