Susan Outen

Funeral services for Susan Holley Outen will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church, 1206A Lyttleton Street, Camden, SC. Bishop Gary Rivas and Reverend William Smith will officiate.  A Nightingale Tribute will be administered by the Nurses Honor Guard of SC. Visitation with family will be held in the Family Life Center following the service.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Susan’s honor to the SC Nurses Foundation, PO Box 1768, Columbia, SC 29202.

Susan, daughter of the late Ray Gillum Holley and Mary Frances Horton Holley, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2024.  She was Chief Nursing Officer for over 18 years at Kershaw County Medical Center and was with the SC Hospital Association for over 10 years.  She was currently with the USC College of Nursing for 10 years.  Susan was also a dedicated friend of Lois W. for over 20 years.

Susan is survived by her sons, Jay Outen, III (Beth) of Lugoff and Gil Outen (Angela) of Catawba, SC; grandchildren, Van, Lily, Tiger, Jessica, Kyle, and Paul; sisters, Gwen Bell (Frank) of Raleigh, NC and Julie Maxham (Joe) of Lugoff; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Susan was predeceased by the father of her children, J. Van Outen, Jr.
