Ted, son of the late Ted Edwin Davis, Sr. and the late Mary Geraldine Allsbrook Davis, passed away on Monday, December 29, 2025. Ted was born and raised in Camden, South Carolina, a place he always considered home. At just 17 years old, he answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Navy, where he worked as a radioman. He served aboard the USS Moosbrugger, USS Stark, and in Operation Desert Storm, as well as a recruiter, experiences that shaped his lifelong commitment to service. Continuing that commitment, Ted later served in the United States Army National Guard, retiring in 2014 with the rank of First Sergeant (1SG).
A man of deep faith and quiet dedication, Ted faithfully served Hermitage Baptist Church through the nursery and food pantry ministries, always willing to help where he was needed. He was also an active leader in the veteran community, serving as Commander of American Legion Post 17 in Camden from 2021 to 2023.
Ted was devoted to his family and friends and would do anything for those he loved. In his free time, he enjoyed camping and fishing, and he was a passionate supporter of the Clemson Tigers. His life was marked by service, loyalty, and a steady presence that will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Ted is survived by his wife of 47 years, Barbara Faye Lester Davis; children, Ted Davis, III “Trey” (Stephanie), of Hannahan, Steven Davis (Jessica), of Cassatt, Stephanie Tuten (Jesse), of Elgin; grandchildren, Wilhem Davis, Cameron Davis, Savannah Davis, Kylie Davis, and Roxanne Tuten; sisters, Judy Mock (Ronnie), of Camden and Jeanne McKay (Joe), of Camden.
