Thomas Clyburn Smith, Jr.

Thomas Clyburn Smith Jr (Tommy) age 66 of Camden, SC, passed away on October 2, 2023. Tommy was the son of the late Betty Pritchard Smith and Thomas Clyburn Smith Sr of Camden. He graduated from Camden High School where he met the love of his life, Susan Parker Smith. Tommy furthered his education at the University of South Carolina, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.  Tommy and Susan were happily married for 43 years. Together they built a beautiful family in Camden with their two children, Chad and Stephanie.  Tommy had a strong love for his family and friends. He enjoyed traveling with Susan and taking annual family trips to the beach.  Tommy was his grandchildren’s biggest fan, attending every recital, ball game, birthday party, and any other special event they participated in. His greatest joy was time spent with family.

Tommy was known for his passionate and dedicated work ethic. He spent many years serving the community of Bishopville through his furniture store, Easy Living Home Center.  He was a well-known businessman, respected and loved by all who met him.  With his warm smile and friendly words, Tommy made people feel like they had known each other a lifetime.  

In addition to his wife, Tommy is survived by his son, Thomas Chadrick Smith of Fort Mill; daughter, Stephanie Smith Hudson (Phillip) of Camden; grandchildren, Molly Parker Hudson, Phillip “Hill” Edward Hudson III, and Graham Wells Hudson; sister, Tammy Smith Brown (Don) of Bishopville; nieces and nephews, Jordan, Evan, Sally (Gunny), Chris (Nikki), and Kerrie (Vince); sisters-in-law, Jenny Parker (Wayne), Sarah Parker; and brother-in-law, Jesse Parker.

Tommy was predeceased by his grandson, Thomas Wesley Hudson.

The family sends their deepest gratitude for the outpouring of love they have received.

Funeral services for Thomas Clyburn Smith, Jr. will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 6, 2023, at First Baptist Church, 1201 Broad Street, Camden.  Pastor Rusty Shuler will officiate.   Burial at Quaker Cemetery will follow.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2023, from 6:00-7:30 PM at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel, 1112 Fair Street.  Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Children’s Program of Camden or the American Heart Association at heart.org.
