Joan Williams Faris

A graveside service to honor the life of Joan LeFaye Williams Faris, 72, of Boykin, South Carolina will be held at 4 P.M. Saturday, July 22, 2023 at Quaker Cemetery, Camden, South Carolina. Reverend Mark Hopkins will officiate.

Joan went to her heavenly home on July 7, 2023. She was born in Camden, South Carolina on January 30, 1951. She was predeceased in death by her loving parents, Milton James Williams (Bally) and Bessie Lee Joye Williams and a sister Joy Carolyn Williams.

Joan was a pioneer of her time and studied Chemical Engineering at the University of South Carolina in the 1970s. She was a business owner, author and wildlife advocate. Her true passion was rescuing animals, especially cats and advocating for all creatures great and small. Her favorite title was Aunt and she loved when her nieces spent their summers and holidays in Camden. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband, sister, parents and nieces. Some of her favorite trips were to New York City, Quebec and Montreal, Canada, Bahamas, New Orleans, and Hawaii. Joan loved theatre and enjoyed going to Broadway shows in Manhattan. She especially enjoyed spending time at her beloved home in the country amongst wildlife. She lived in various places throughout her life: Columbia, SC; Charlotte, NC; Boston, MA; Knoxville, TN; Pittsburgh, PA; Augusta, GA, and Raleigh, NC.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Robert (Bob) Dale Faris, sister Janice Lynn Williams McEvoy (Bill) of Augusta, GA, her nieces Jennifer Williams McEvoy Holroyd (Chris) of Augusta, Georgia and Joye Carolyn McEvoy Milko (John) of North Augusta, South Carolina, and her great- nephews Christopher Todd Holroyd, Jr. and James William Montgomery Holroyd of Augusta, GA.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to Pawmetto Lifeline in Columbia South Carolina, The Humane Society of the United States, or PETA in her name.

Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
